FAQs

How do I begin?

If you believe we’ll be a good fit, send a message on my “Connect” page to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation. At that time, we’ll discuss what’s bringing you to therapy and I’ll share ways I can support.

Next, I’ll send an email with forms to review and fill out. Once those forms are completed and received, we’ll schedule our first appointment.

The day of our first appointment, you’ll receive a link to our Doxy.me session. A few minutes before the session click on the link and you’ll enter the waiting room.

During our first few sessions we’ll discuss your history, current situation and concerns, and goals for therapy.  We’ll also explore resources and helpful tools to practice between our sessions. This initial period allows us to get to know one another and explore how best I can serve your needs.

What is your fee?

My fee is $150 per 50-minute session.

How long are sessions?

Our sessions are 50 minutes.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept all major credit, debit cards, and Bitcoin. Payment is due at the end of session.

Do you accept insurance?

I’m an out-of-network provider and do not work directly with any insurance company in-network. You may be eligible for partial reimbursement depending on your plan. Upon request I will provide you with a monthly statement to submit for reimbursement.

What should I ask my insurance company?

My services may be reimbursable through your plan’s out-of-network mental health benefits. Prior to beginning treatment, I encourage you to verify your coverage by asking: Does my plan include coverage for out-of-network mental health services? How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider? What is my deductible for out-of-network services and has it been met? Do I have a session limit? What form(s) do I need for submitting my invoice(s) to receive my out-of-network benefits? Is teletherapy covered?

No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimates (January 2022)

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit  www.cms.gov/nosurprises (Reprinted from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services)

How often do we meet?

For continuity, I prefer to meet with clients once a week. Together we will coordinate a schedule that works best with your preferences, finances, and issues. As progress towards goals are made, sessions may reduce to bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

Although issues such as family and work emergencies, childcare issues, or illness may arise that make it challenging to keep your appointment, I do have a firm 24-hour cancellation policy. Since the appointment time has been set aside just for you, there will be a partial charge of $65 for any cancellations within 24 hours.
